What makes our artisan gifts sustainable?
Handmade
Our artisans work using traditional heritage skills, many of which are hand-crafted, using minimal machinery. This slow production method is something we honour at Hadeda, meaning no two pieces alike and each collection is limited edition.
Natural and recycled materials
Many of our artisans utilise the natural materials found indigenously around them, from grasses to clay. These are harvested sustainably and locally to minimise carbon emissions of importing raw materials for production. Some of our pieces, including our beaded designs (above) utilise recycled glass beads, whilst our coloured glassware is hand-blown from recycled glass. Upcycling existing materials is another way for our artisans to produce sustainably.
Made to treasure
When curating our gift collection, we are looking for pieces that will be treasured forever in their new home. Handmade, artisan gifts will always outlive their mass produced counterparts, both in quality and value.
Who make our artisan gifts?
We work directly with a collective of artisans and co-operatives across Africa - including studio potters in Cape Town, cane weavers in Malawi and basket makers in Ghana. You can learn more about the talented artisans who make for Hadeda here.

We have a range of woven cane furniture and accessories, perfect for children's nurseries or playrooms.
