Summer Brunch Tablescaping Edit

Our edit of artisan African homewares is curated with 'beautiful, everyday design' in mind. This week we have an edit of hand-crafted ceramics, glassware and textiles perfect for tablescaping your summer brunches...

When curating our artisan African homewares, it is always with the eye for 'beautiful, everyday designs'. As a busy family of 6 my favourite pieces are those that enhance those simple daily moments - a beautiful, simple breakfast table, a hand-loomed rug under foot, or a stylish sofa to sink into at the end of the day - all designed to last and be enjoyed, everyday rather than 'saved for best'.

This summer we have added a beautiful range of ceramics from Mervyn Gers; all skillfully hand-made in a sunshine palette of fig greens and mustards, yet wholly practical, robust and dishwasher-proof. They are a great addition to any summer brunch table for a relaxed, artisan setting.

To pair with our colourful ceramics we have a beautiful range of hand-blown glasses and carafes, all made from recycled glass. Stick with one tone throughout your tablewares, or mix and match for an ecclectic feel.

We also have charming sets of hand-embroidered napkins with bird or shell motifs to dress your table; created by the Mogalakwena Foundation in the remote north-western region of the Limpopo Province, South Africa - you can learn more about their work here to provide employment opportunities for rural communities and ensuring the preservation of indigenous culture and craft.

A simple interior design trick to add textural interest to your table is to layer a woven placemat under your ceramics. Our natural raffia placemats are perfect - robust, timeless and a beautiful backdrop to colourful ceramics.

If you are looking to invest in the foundations of your table setting our cane furniture sets are perfect for creating informal dining and entertaining spaces - from our bijou bistro set for 2, all the way up to our set of 6 dining chairs (above).
